EPA Method 501.2:
Analysis Of Trihalomethanes In Drinking Water By Liquid/Liquid Extraction

Ten milliliters of sample are extracted one time with 2 mL of solvent. Three uL of the extract are then injected into a gas chromatograph equipped with a linearized electron capture detector for separation and analysis.

This method is applicable only to the determination of four trihalomethanes, i.e., chloroform, bromodichloromethane, chlorodibromomethane, and bromoform in finished drinking water, drinking water during intermediate stages of treatment, and the raw source water.
