EPA Method TO-12:
METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF NON-METHANE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS (NMOC) IN AMBIENT AIR USING CRYOGENIC PRECONCENTRATION

Summary:
A whole air sample is either extracted directly from the ambient air and analyzed on site by the GC system or collected into a precleaned sample canister and analyzed off site.

Scope:
In recent years, the relationship between ambient concentrations of precursor organic compounds and subsequent downwind concentrations of ozone has been described by a variety of photochemical dispersion models. The most important application of such models is to determine the degree of control of precursor organic compounds that is necessary in an urban area to achieve compliance with applicable ambient air quality standards for ozone (1,2).
