National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program
Summit Environmental Technologies is an accredited laboratory under the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) standards and participates in the voluntary National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) each year. The purpose of NELAC is to establish and promote acceptable performance standards for environmental testing laboratories.
NELAC was established in 1995, with the mission to develop laboratory accreditation standards and implement a certification program – the National Environmental Accreditation Program (NELAP).
Under NELAP, state governmental agencies participate as Accrediting Bodies (AB), serving as a clearinghouse for environmental labs. Although each NELAP AB may adopt slightly different requirements above and beyond NELAC standards, all NELAP ABs recognize the accreditation status of a laboratory that was issued under another NELAP AB (i.e., reciprocity). Summit Environmental Technologies obtained primary NELAC accreditation, including both our fixed-base and on-site operations and also maintains secondary accreditation through other participating NELAP ABs.
